As children of God, we're giving the grace of repentance for all our wrongdoings. But, most of the time we refuse to obey God simply because of what we're getting from doing them.The simple truth here is God's Plan for us is uncountable times better than the plans we have mapped out for ourselves, and the best decision we can ever make in life is to, "let go and let God lead us".
