
These generic models followed the Toshiba adage at the time of "Less is More" & were built down to a price using only what was needed to achieve a decent sound for the money!
They used an average tape mechanism & a minimal main board to handle the rest! I liked them a lot in 1985!
I made a very poor video aurally - The sound is much better than shown here in this rather rushed video capture of it after cleaning & restoring it!
Some "Engineer" had at some point tried changing the belt & had tightened up the flywheel retaining bracket up so tight, it impeded the rotation of the somewhat meagre flywheel from freely rotating resulting in terrible playback!
Now I remembered that they used to sound very decent so after replacing the belt again & adjusting the flywheel tensioner allowing free movement again!
All is now well with this survivor from the mid 80's now works very well on wireless & cassette tape!
