"Dude, I Know Karate!" tells the heartfelt story of a karate-loving boy searching for acceptance and love. Despite being teased and excluded for not fitting the mold of a stereotypical "popular kid," he remains true to himself. The song follows his journey through everyday life until he meets a girl who appreciates him—not only for his passion for karate but also for who he truly is.
19 Miles Per Hour originally wrote "Dude, I Know Karate!" in 2020 as part of a songwriting TV show that was set to be pitched to a major network. The band was given the phrase "Dude, I know karate" as a creative prompt and tasked with writing a song inspired by it. Although the show never aired, the song became a fan favorite during live performances, with audiences eagerly calling for an official release. Now, after five years of anticipation, the wait is finally over.

Lyrics:
Now I know I’m not the captain of the football team
Not a winner, not a loser, somewhere in between
But I know my martial arts
Will win me some girl’s heart
Some day… So I’ll wait till...
Then you got the guys with their long brown hair
Rockin out up on the stage while the cute girls stare
Well I bet they can't do a
Round house kick “HI-YAH!”
But I can.... But they just don't care!
Sensei says it's stupid
(He just doesn't get me)
But Sensei doesn't understand
No one ever falls in love with good guys
Never catch em staring with them heart eyes
Everybody’s chasing after prom kings and
Double decker diamonds on a wedding ring
She told me she don’t want me around well
Bet he doesn’t even have a brown belt
Could’ve had a warrior but oh no
Rather go to Paris than the dojo
I don’t understand why no one wants me wants me
Cause dude, I know karate!
Every other guy is taller, dark and handsome too
One of them, he even learned a little jujitsu
(Jujitsu who?)
But I know my karate
Will top them all one day
I'm sure… That I'd kick his...
Asking every guy but me to dance
Played it cool, but always knew I never stood a chance
Cause girls only like boys
Who buy them fancy toys
But oh well!
(What do you mean you don't have a 401k?)
Sensei says I'm crazy
(Is there someone out there for me?)
But Sensei doesn't understand!
No one ever falls in love with good guys
Never catch em staring with them heart eyes
Everybody’s chasing after prom kings and
Double decker diamonds on a wedding ring
She told me she don’t want me around well
Bet he doesn’t even have a brown belt
Could’ve had a warrior but oh no
Rather go to Paris than the dojo
I don’t understand why no one wants me wants me
Cause dude, I know karate!
Maybe sensei's right
I'm fighting the wrong fight
Finally I see
There's nothing else I need
Cause dude I know karate!
I'll find someone who falls in love with good guys
Someone who will stare at me with heart eyes
Somebody who treats me like a prom king
And doesn't care for double decker diamond rings
Never ever gonna let me down well
Finally she'll have herself a black belt
She's gonna have a warrior and I know
She'd skip a week in Paris for the Dojo
Finally I'll find someone who wants me, wants me
And dude, she'll know karate!
Dude, I know karate!
Dude, she'll know karate!
Dude, I know karate!
Dude, we know karate!
