The Colossus of Rhodes was a monumental statue of the Greek sun god Helios, erected in 282 BC after 12 years of construction on the Greek island of Rhodes.The more than 30 meters high bronze statue was one of the seven wonders of the world in ancient times. Around 226 BC, the colossal statue collapsed as a result of an earthquake.
