The COVID-19 pandemic has increased interest in novel technologies, such as ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) and bi-polar ionization. What factors should practitioners consider when exploring these technologies as part of a building operations reopening plan? Seema Bhangar of WeWork and Marwa Zaatari of DZINE Partners discussed the use and efficacy of new technologies and highlight proven and impactful strategies – such as filtration, social distancing and masks, and HVAC upgrades – for safe reopening without compromising energy efficiency.
