Time Signatures 3/4 vs 6/8. /4 and 6/8 time signatures can look very much similar because 3 quarter notes does equal the same value, mathematically a 6 eighth notes. Sometimes 3/4 time will have 6 8th notes, and 6/8 time will also have 6 8th notes. So what is the actual difference between 3/4 time and 6/8 time? The difference between 3/4 and 6/8 time signatures is in the emphasis of the beat, the groupings of the notes, and the feel of the music. 3/4 time is in simple time, and 6/8 time is in compound time. 6/8 time actual feels like it has 2 beats per measure.
