Deep within the Canadian wilderness lies Arctomys Cave, the second deepest cave in the country, plunging an astonishing 1,760 feet (536 meters) into the earth. But depth is just one of Arctomys' many challenges. The descent is divided into sections, with the initial stretch known ominously as "The Endless Climb." Here, explorers face steep and vertical shafts that make rappelling down sheer rock faces feel like navigating a labyrinth of cliffs. To add to the challenge, many of these passages are flooded with icy runoff from nearby glaciers.
