A major wildfire broke out on August 5, in Ribaute in the Aude region of southern France, near the Spanish border.
The blaze has burned over 11,000 hectares of forest, damaged at least 25 homes and destroyed around 30 vehicles, according to local authorities. Approximately 2,500 households remain without electricity.
The A9 motorway – a key link between France and Spain – has been closed in both directions, along with several local roads.
