From January 1963 to August 1966, Indonesia engaged in an undeclared conflict with Malaysia, opposing its formation from the merger of the Federation of Malaya, Singapore, North Borneo, and Sarawak. The confrontation involved small-scale clashes, primarily along the jungle-covered border between East Malaysia and Indonesia, with additional activity in Singapore, Borneo, and the Malay Peninsula.

In July 1965, British Forces tested the SRN-5 hovercraft in Borneo to assess the impact in would have on jungle warfare.

'ITN Reports' was a series of documentary reports from around the world, produced by ITN News and broadcast on ITV from November 1964 - December 1965.
