A pineapple shell can momentarily support a 1000°C iron ball without immediately burning due to its high water content. As heat evaporates the moisture, a protective steam barrier forms, briefly insulating the shell. This effect, similar to the Leidenfrost phenomenon, delays combustion. However, as the water depletes, the shell eventually chars and disintegrates.
