First hit by Fats with strings. The idea probably came from The Drifters' hit "There Goes My Baby"", which was one of the first stringladen R&B-hits.
The aside was a huge hit for Fats and would be his last Million Seller. See that song for more chart-facts.
"Don't Come Knockin'" debuted on June 26, 1960 on the POP-Charts. It peaked at POS. 21, staying 11 weeks on the charts.
It had it's debut on the R&B-charts on August 1, 1960, stalling at #28. It stayed 3 weeks on the charts.
It was Fats' 15th(!) double-sided smash in 5 years!
