Retro Release: 31 years ago today—on July 15, 1994—Overkill released W.F.O., their seventh studio album self-produced and recorded April–May 1994 at Ambient Recording Co. in Stamford, Connecticut.Melding old-school thrash ferocity with groove-metal rhythms, W.F.O. rips through tracks like the breakneck “Fast Junkie,” the anthemic “Bastard Nation,” and the punishing title cut, while even hiding a ten-minute Black Sabbath/Judas Priest/Jimi Hendrix jam at the end of track 98.
Though it didn’t crack the Billboard 200, it reached No. 9 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart—Overkill’s third-highest position on that list.
