This webinar explores how Building Information Modelling (BIM) can transform decision-making processes in construction projects. Attendees will gain insights into how BIM integrates 3D modelling, scheduling, and cost estimation within a unified framework to support data-driven decisions. Additionally, the webinar will highlight how BIM fosters collaboration across disciplines by creating a shared platform for stakeholders, enhancing communication throughout the project lifecycle.
The session will also focus on BIM’s critical role in promoting sustainable outcomes, emphasizing its ability to optimize resources, encourage lifecycle thinking, and integrate environmental, social, and economic considerations into project planning. By exploring the conceptual and strategic advantages of BIM, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to enhance project efficiency, collaboration, and sustainability.
Key takeaways from this webinar:
- Understand how BIM enhances decision-making by unifying project data and processes.
- Learn how BIM improves collaboration and communication across multidisciplinary teams.
- Explore BIM’s role in achieving sustainability through resource optimization and lifecycle thinking.
Presenter: Dr. Karoline Figueiredo, EIT Lecturer
Dr. Karoline Figueiredo is a civil engineer with a strong focus on sustainable construction and the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as Digital Twins and Blockchain. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering (Built Environment Concentration) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ – Brazil), where her research aimed to minimize the environmental, social, and economic impacts of construction projects. Dr Karoline has also collaborated internationally as a researcher at Universitat Rovira I Virgili (Spain) and Western Sydney University (Australia), contributing significantly to advancements in life cycle assessment methodologies for construction.
Dr. Karoline is the co-editor of the book “Materials Selection for Sustainability in the Built Environment: Environmental, Social and Economic Aspects”, which addresses critical decision-making processes for selecting sustainable construction materials. In addition to her academic roles, she serves as a reviewer and editor for prominent international journals. Currently, she lectures at the Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT), Australia, and UFRJ, Brazil, where she specializes in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) and other essential methodologies and technologies, empowering students and professionals to develop innovative solutions for construction challenges.
