Hello everything! Wow! Here are sixteen mind-blowing sydes from the finest sixties’ psychedelic unknowns!! I can say that this is one of my favorite volumes, even if I love all the tracks I upload, but this one really touches my soul! :) Let’s see what we can find about these ones!

A1- Demented track from L.A.! Here is what I got from Art Guy, who co-produced the song: “The tune I Got Out was presented to me when I was engineering and producing for Bruce Morgan at Stereo Masters Recording Studios in Hollywood. I had a co-partner at the time, Paul Fabian, who scouted potential talent and was credited as co-producer on this record. Charlie was a wild and crazy character, trying to make something happen in L.A. As far as I know, this was his only record. It was recorded on the heels of "There Coming To Take Me Away" in the hopes the same folks that loved that record, might find some joy and humor in Charlie's record.”
- Goombie Records – 1 (1966)

A2 & A3- The Words were from Port Huron, MI. I did not find anything more. Run Away Love was seemingly written by William Armstrong, writer of “Slip Away”. Their version is the only known. A3 is a cover of the Young Rascals song. But they are much wilder than the original, of course!
- Sound – SI-213 (1968)

A4 & A5- The Grass Company was from Sarnia, ON Canada. Their only single was issued on the same label as The Words. The band included Jim Chevalier, who later became known as the leader of Almost Floating, and Kim Mitchell, who had a successful solo career during the 1980s-90s.

- Sound – SI-181 (1968)

A6- Here is a mystery single, by Noah’s Dove. Must have been from somewhere in the Northwest. The only name given is John Wood, who wrote and produced at least this song (can’t find pictures of the other side). The flip side of this, “Noah’s Dove” (the song), was apparently also issued with “Invitation” on the flip. So far I have only heard this song.
- Piccadilly Records – 253 (1968)

A7- Not much on The Cellar-Wall. They must have been from New Jersey. Their only single was produced by Rob Russen, and recorded at Mod Sounds, Inc. Writing credits give the names of C. Doutt and C. LaRue.
- Castle – 105 (1969)

A8- Blue Stone Horse Shoe is a mystery band from Kansas City that cut one Damon acetate in the late 1960s or early 1970s. We’ve already met them in Vol. 19 with the outstanding ‘Big City Blues’. And all I can say is: wow!
- Damon acetate (196?)

B1- Howie Thayer & His Psycho-Electric Happening is in fact the work of one man, Howie Thayer, from LaMoille, Illinois. “He recorded two 45s in 1968 at Roger Francisco's RoFran studio in Urbana, illinois. All the songs were recorded in a weekend with rented instruments which Thayer played himself. He has since spent most of his life in the radio business. Legally changed his name to Dr. Dr. Thayer. He owns and operates WZPH in Zephyrhills, Florida.” (info from Downstate Sounds)
- Psychedelic Sounds – 836R-1035 (1968)

B2- The Boodly Hoo was a Canadian band from Toronto active in the late 1960s. They made their only tour for a week in Feb 1967, and then got back to their respective jobs. Their only single, written by frontman Doug Caldwell, got some airplay but never charted. But who cares, it’s still f…ing great!
- Giant – GR 903 (1967)

B3- The Magic Cycle was also from Torondo. They had begun as the Canadian Deltones, until 1966. They issued four singles between 1967 and 1969 before becoming The Cycle, under which name they issued two albums and numerous singles until 1973. This single was issued on the same label as the Boodly Hoo, and I love this nervous track in minor.
