I got asked if I do bass tutorials. But I don't think I know how to explain what I do and why I make some decisions, so maybe in the future.For now, here's a production session with me. I usually don't know what I'm about to make. Everything are happy little accidents that came to me. I can direct somehow these accidents to make a specific genre or style, but I usually don't know at all what's gonna come out.
I tried not to use many third party plugins for this session, but I still used them: Vital is my go-to synth but I love (and wanna replace it with) kHz Phaseplant and I didn't use it here. Kontakt is top notch sound quality. Neutron saves so much time. Trash is just good distortions. Flair, Bite, Driver, etc... Came with Komplete, but they're just generic cool modulators with cool presets (kHz free effects and FL Studio stock plugins are amazing too). And Pigments, but I feel like it's limited (or more confusing) compared to Vital, PP or Serum; However, it sounds nice.
And I bought them all so fuck me if I wanna use them lol.
For filters and gain I use a simple Love Philter (LP chained to HP mapped to X and Y and using level for gain) and for upward/downward compression I have my home made "Almost OTT" preset for Maximus, but kHz Multiband is fucking incredible for that (don't even think of default OTT unless you're on Ableton, lacks customisation).
