Quen Blackwell Faces Backlash For Using Breast Milk #shorts #quenlinblackwell #skincare

Influencer Quenlin Blackwell revealed that she uses her sister’s breast milk as part of her skincare routine.

The Vine-star-turned-TikToker, who appeared in Charli XCX’s 360 music video, shared the unconventional beauty tip in an April interview for the Perfectly Imperfectly newsletter, saying:
"My sister has been on a five-year baby streak, and I’ve been buying her breast milk for my baths and face masks. If you want top-tier skincare ingredients, don’t sleep on it."

She’s not alone. Influencer Veronica Reign went viral back in 2021 after posting a TikTok video of herself applying her sister’s breast milk to her face and raving about the results.

Typically, those who incorporate breast milk into their skincare blend it (frozen or fresh) with powdered clay or oats and honey to create a mask. The mixture is applied to the face, allowed to dry, and then rinsed off.
The growing popularity of breast milk as a skincare ingredient stems from its unique and nutrient-rich composition.

Even celebrities are endorsing its benefits.
Singer Halsey told Nylon in 2023: “I started breastfeeding, and I figured out that breast milk is the best skincare ingredient ever because it’s so full of antioxidants and good fats and stuff that speed up the healing process.”
Tennis star Serena Williams has also posted a TikTok video where she applied breast milk to soothe her sunburn.

However, other influencers who have joined in on the trend have claimed that breast milk works as “free Botox” for the skin, which dermatologists were quick to debunk.

While breast milk may offer genuine skincare benefits rooted in its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and moisturising properties, experts caution against overblown claims.
