Marseilles was founded 2,600 years ago which makes it the oldest town in France. Therefore, definitely worth a visit!

This fantastic town was designated as World Water Capital in 1996, European Capital of Culture for 2013 and European Capital of Sport for 2017. Also, the UEFA Cup was held here in 2016.

If you are a film enthusiast, you will be glad to learn that the famous American dramatic thriller “The French Connection” from 1971, starring Gene Hackman, Fernando Rey and Roy Scheider was filmed around Marseille.
