On June 2, a whale was found by tourists entangled in the remains of fishing nets.
The Friends of the Ocean rescue team, led by Anastasia Kunitsa, a member of the Marine Mammal Council, came to the whale's aid on June 10 in cooperation with the Rescue Operations Center management and with the support of Nornickel.
Despite the challenging entanglement, strong waves, gusty winds, fog, and the cunning and agility of Stanislav the whale, rescuers managed to free the endangered animal by June 16.
Now the whale is free! And once again we have seen how important it is to preserve the ecology of the seas and remove garbage.
