Floating Folk Rock (5312a) is a backing track in the key of C major - but without the C major chord. The following chords appear in this track: F major (the subdominant), G major (the dominant) and E minor (the chord on the third degree of the C major scale). Although the whole track is clearly in the key of C major, the C major chord itself does not appear. The chords somehow float above the root note – hence the name “floating”.
The ElectricPiano also often plays an F add9 chord instead of the pure F chord, which adds another harmonic color to the track.
