A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 shook the North Pacific Ocean, about 88 kilometers from the U.S. coast, early on Thursday morning, August 1, 2024. The quake happened at 1:03 AM local time, which is 9 hours behind GMT. It was relatively shallow, occurring just 10 kilometers below the ocean’s surface.
