
The list of countries and territories, laid out across eight pages of documents, includes a baseline 10 per cent tariff - but imposes higher additional duties on many countries.
The U.S. will charge a 20 per cent tax on imports from the European Union, 10 per cent on the U.K. and 31per cent on Switzerland.
“Let’s be clear about the immense consequences. The global economy will massively suffer. Uncertainty will spiral and trigger the rise of further protectionism,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
French President Emmanuel Macron called the tariffs “unfounded” and called for a suspension of European investment into the U.S.
English Prime Minister Keir Starmer said a global trade war was “in nobody’s interest” but said Britain would take a “calm approach.”
