17 children were killed in a tragic fire incident at an Islamic school in Zamfara State.

Authorities say they are investigating the incident, but it is reported that the fire broke out in a nearby house on Tuesday night and spread to the school while the children, believed to be aged 10-16, were sleeping.

Several other pupils were injured in the incident and rushed to health centres in the town of Kauran Namoda local government area.

The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu has donated N100 million Naira to families of those that lost their lives in the recent tanker explosion in Niger State.

The donation was made during her private visit to former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, through her Renewed Hope Initiative.

The first lady said that 70 families would receive N1 million Naira each from the donation, while the remaining funds would be used for food and other essential supplies.

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has criticized National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, accusing him of serious amnesia for denying past remarks allegedly made against President Bola Tinubu.

Ribadu, through his lawyer, had demanded a public apology from PDP chieftain Naja’atu Muhammad, who claimed in a viral video that Ribadu once labeled Tinubu as corrupt during his time as EFCC chairman.

In a rebuttal on X, El-Rufai backed Muhammad’s claims, accusing Ribadu of selective memory.

Ribadu was made to respond to the comment he allegedly made in 2006 while briefing the Senate on anti-corruption activities, during a presidential debate in 2011.

Ribadu has dismissed the allegations in a strongly worded letter, insisting he never made such statements and condemning the viral video’s impact as “unquantifiable.”

The Olorile of Orile-Ifo, Oba Ogunjobi who assaulted a 73-year-old man publicly in a viral video was granted a N10 million Naira bail which he could not meet.

He was remanded at Ilaro Correctional Center in Ogun State. The case was adjourned to March 6th.

Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has accused the Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi of abusing his office by suppressing free speech and unlawfully detaining citizens who criticize the police.

The activist made the comment in a video that went viral on Wednesday adding that Adejobi has turned the role into a tool for intimidation rather than public relations.

Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations, has decried the spate of mass migration, otherwise known as Japa by Nigerians to foreign countries in search of greener pastures, saying that the development must be reversed, in the interest of the nation.

Natasha made the comments at the committee’s maiden meeting on Wednesday.

In the United Kingdom, the leader of the Conservative party, Kemi Badenoch, in one of her first policy announcements since becoming leader, said that immigrants should only be able to apply for British citizenship after being in the country for 15 years, rather than the current six years stipulated by law.

Badenoch also stated that indefinite leave to remain, which paves the way for citizenship should not be granted to those who have criminal records or who have claimed benefits or social housing.

Badenoch spoke to the BBC, she further stressed that having British citizenship was not just a right, but a privilege and should be for those with a meaningful connection to the country.

Journalist, and social media sensation, Dan Bello took it upon himself to construct a community ‘Well’ in a village near Daura, the hometown of former President Mohammed Buhari, and just 23 kilometers from Shargalle
the hometown of former aviation minister Hadi Sirika, in Katsina State.

According to Bello, the community has faced the issue of water scarcity for years.
