The battle to clinch an OCC championship would need an extra session between Richland County rivals Mansfield Senior and Lexington that saw the Tygers score a 54-53 overtime victory to spoil the Minutemen's claim for an outright title.The first half was a battle of two strong defenses with a score of 21 to 12 in favor of Mansfield Senior (15-7, 11-3) going into half, before Lexington (18-4, 12-2) would battle back to trim the deficit down to 4 by the end of the third at 33-29.
The fourth quarter would be a seesaw battle finishing with a crazy shot by Senior High guard Nathaniel Haney to give them a two-point lead with 5 seconds left, but Lexington's Joe Caudill catches a missed 3 and lays it in just before the final horn to tie the game and send it into overtime.
In the extra session, Haney would show up again in front of a packed house on Senior Night, hitting a three to get the ball rolling and adding another 4 points to help seal the deal and forcing the Minutemen to share the OCC Championship with New Philadelphia.
Chunky finished the game with 14 pts, as did Kyevi Roane to lead Mansfield in scoring, while Brayden Fogle put up a game-best 19 for Lex with Baden Forup adding 15 and Hudson Moore 11.
