The action takes place in the Canadian city of Mississauga (population of about 800 thousand) in the area, surrounded by four high-rise apartment buildings. The squirrel was caught by this red-tailed hawk, a common bird here, which is widely distributed in North and Central America. The bird is so common that we can see them almost every day during our daily 6-mile walks in the city. The bird is large, with a wingspan up to 4 ft 8 inches. In large cities, hawks hunt a variety of prey including birds, rabbits, rodents, snakes, and often young cats.
