The Sea Withdrew is the 43rd song in my Free Background Music Series. It is a quiet piano song that has a soft and sombre feeling. The music, photos and video footage are by longzijun (myself). I played this song on a Korg M50 Synth. The composition was inspired by all the problems we have been facing during 2020. It has a somewhat sad mood but includes key changes to major keys in order to show a feeling of hope.
Overall the effect is meant to be relaxing, kind of a like a lullaby for our troubled times.
The photos and video were taken in and around Wu Kai Sha—an area in Hong Kong's New Territories where I lived for a couple of years.
The title of the song is the final line from a poem by Emily Dickinson entitled: By the Sea
