You probably all know the ODR-1 – it’s long been the tonal weapon of choice for Nashville’s top session players (like Tom Bukovac), and in recent years it’s started to become one of the main stompboxes in discussions about transparent overdrives among the masses.
And now, in its 30th year, Nobels have celebrated by revamping the pedal, giving it extra features, and decking it out in a wonderful gold sparkle finish.
The 30th Anniversary ODR-1 is based on the Nobels’ team’s best sounding vintage ODR-1 from the 90s (when apparently they sounded the best ever!), so it should give slightly different results compared to the ODR-1 Bass Cut model and the ODR-Mini that you can currently find in stores.
The 30th Anniversary model also packs a feature I think every ODR-1 fan has been screaming for for years: a variable Bass Cut control knob. This lets you precisely tweak the amount of low end in your tone, so you can remove any unwanted flubby bass frequencies for amazing tonal clarity, while still keeping your sound thick, fat and rich. Alongside the Bass Cut knob, the pedal also features the standard ODR-1 controls: Level, Drive, and Spectrum.
For €199/$169, then, this could be an awful lot of pedal, and in the video I put it to the test in as many different musical styles as I can, using my Fender Telecaster for single coil tones, and my Epiphone Les Paul for the humbucking sounds. At the end there’s a special treat: a comparison/shootout of the ODR-1 30th Anniversary Edition pedal and my ODR-1 Bass and ODR-Mini pedals.
There’s a bigger, more in-depth comparison of the three pedals here:

33:33 My conclusions on the ODR-1 30th Anniversary pedal and why you should buy it
My setup was as follows: I ran the ODR-1 straight into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head. That went from the amp’s Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done. Oh, and I used my Boss RC-10R to play the loops.
