Millie Mooney, age 92, of Munster, Indiana, formerly of Hammond, Indiana, entered Heaven on Monday, December 14, 2020 after an extended illness.

She is survived by her children: James (Bonnie) Mooney, Fred (Vickie) Mooney, Marilyn (David) McCann, Sharon Olsen and Charles (Deborah) Mooney; her grandchildren: Trina (Dave) Hale, Meghan (Ray) Hall, Jamie (Eric) Godoy, James (Katie) Mooney, Ruth Pinkerton, Rachel (Jared) Borkowski, Timothy Mooney, Todd (Crystal) Mooney, Melissa McCann, Alexa Olsen, Amanda and Melanie Mooney; and 16 great-grand Children. Millie is also survived by her loving care giver Theresa Hamoonga. Millie is proceeded in death by her husband James Mooney in 1985; her parents Fred and Ada Bosnich; and her siblings Viola Skelton and George (Maureen) Bosnich.

Millie was a homemaker and a Mom to her 5 children along with many more that visited her home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hammond, Indiana for over 70 years where at the age of 16 she trusted Jesus as her savior under Pastor Miller’s ministry. Her faith was paramount in her daily life. She was an active member of the Woman’s Missionary Society (Africa Circle) prior to becoming a shut – in and was a Life Member of VFW Post 802 Auxiliary. Some of Millie’s attributes were her patience, kindness and acceptance of everyone. Her greatest joy was surrounding herself with family and friends.

Millie and her friends (golden girls) visited many fascinating places and shared many laughs. Anytime the car was going, so was she. Millie was also very patriotic.

A viewing will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 9:00 – 10:00 am for the family, with public viewing 10:00 – 12:00pm at First Baptist Church, 523 Sibley Street, Hammond, Indiana. Services immediately following the viewing with Pastor John Wilkerson. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Millie’s memory can be made to some of her favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Disabled American Veterans, and Mayo Clinic Cancer, Alzheimer’s to name a few.
