Michael Stone-Richards is professor in the department of Liberal Arts, College for Creative Studies, Detroit where he teaches Critical Theory and Visual Studies. He has published widely in English and French on the history and critical theory of the avant-garde and contemporary art practices. He is also the founding editor of Detroit Research. In a talk entitled "The (Im)-possibility of Learning..." Stone-Richards will speak on the crisis in art school pedagogy / education and the implications for art school pedagogy of the contemporary art practices emerging in Detroit, including Social Practice, Post-Studio, Dance, and more.
