Period cinema has been a formula for entertainment and box office success but it has been challenging also due to several factors like lack of proper research about the subject and characters, taking liberties with interpretations in the name of creativity , sensationalism, melodrama, political pressures, censorship etc. Hindi films have also been accused of tampering with history.
