A senior Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security official is advising school authorities to keep the surroundings clean and garbage bins covered at all times to reduce the presence of bees on their properties.
Senior Agricultural Assistant Bernard Thompson is giving the advice amid concerns about issues with bees at schools, including Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary, in recent weeks. Classes there have been disrupted on two occasions.
Mr. Thompson is urging children and adults not to run or keep noise if bees are hovering around them.
He says they attack and sting when they feel threatented.
