Aaron discussed the benefits of optimising power quality in manufacturing, and presented a case study with Phil McArdle from Patties Food Group.

As we strive towards a more energy-efficient and sustainable future the quality of power that runs through more and more electrified loads has become increasingly critical to understand in the landscape of stability. Very similar to our personal health, ignoring symptoms, or misunderstanding them, can have damaging and devastating affects, or even just make our lives harder than they need to be. So what do we do? We go to the doctor for a health check! Are we on the right path, are there small or large improvements we should make, and are there improvements we need to make? Manufacturing and energy managers may think "I don't have any power quality issues." But once they start talking, more and more symptoms that were misdiagnosed come through that indicate there is indeed a power quality health problem, with the reminder that electricity pervades every part of your business/facility. It matters. Validating with power quality metering (portable or permanent!) is a critical step to accurately diagnosing what those symptoms mean, or uncovering concerns that were so well hidden, they weren't even showing at the symptomatic level yet.
