Matthew Piazzi & The Debonairs put this together as a special request from me for the 4th of July celebrations. "If I Had A Hammer" was written by environmental and social activist Pete Seeger and Lee Hays to address civil rights issues, labor and unions. It became a hit with singing groups like Peter Paul and Mary, and was considered an anthem for progressives. I got to hear Peter Paul & Mary sing it LIVE when I was just a toddler, I had the pleasure of hearing Pete Seeger sing it at the Clearwater Festival in NY. Other great versions were done by Trini Lopez and Sam Cooke. Now here we are performing it!
