The supercharger sits in between the V bank, powered by the serpentine belt. This engine has direct injection, a timing chain located at the back of the engine with a shaft running to the front to power the oil pump.
Common issues with this engine are the roller arms developing flat spots causing a top end clatter. While the engine itself was supposed to be reliable, the owner of this engine overheated it while coolant was mixed with the oil, creating a milkshake and the engine to ultimately seize the connecting rod and main crankshaft bearings.
This engine was from a 2011 Audi S4 with over 200,000km.
