"Higher Ground" is a Christian hymn written by Johnson Oatman, Jr. and was published in 1898. Oatman was a Methodist minister and wrote over 5,000 hymns, including this one, which reflects his longing for spiritual growth. Inspired by Philippians 3:13–14, it expresses a desire to rise above earthly struggles toward God.
