freesoulJAH: A Retrospective - Exhibit 4: Krazy Rodeo Track 10 - ca. 2002Krazy Rodeo featured several instrumental tracks that showcased my brother Simon’s guitar skills. This is one of them, and unfortunately I don’t remember the title. We didn’t mass produce cds and only made a handful of them to give to friends and family. I have one copy that is labeled with a sharpie and it doesn’t have a track list. .
Simon’s talent really shines on the instrumentals. He taught himself how to play guitar, and worked his way up to learning songs by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Metallica from Tablature books. He would spent countless hours practicing and it shows. .
You can hear our experimentation with effects on the drums and guitars. We would take turns trying things out and learning as we went. Working on a DAW was a new experience for both of us. .
In addition to his prowess on the guitar, Simon is also an exceptional visual artist. The image above is a self portrait that he drew sometime in the early 2000s. He is currently working on and producing “Slaggy Dude”. .
