A short suite with three movements. I was experimenting with writing with strings in mind. In future I hope to arrange this properly for a string ensemble. I wrote the first part of this piece on a train travelling through greenery and thinking about Spring and the fresh green shoots rising up out of the earth.
The second section is melancholy and reflective. I wrote this part whilst sitting outside in a roof garden overlooking the river Thames.
The third section is a lively and animated gigue which I wrote sitting in the cafe at the top of Tate Modern in London. I was looking out at the London skyline and the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral.
