Part of the so-called "First Wave of Post Grunge" Silverchair were brought in to fill the void left by Nirvana and Pearl Jam in the mid 90's. Released in 1995, Frogstomp blurred the line between Grunge and Post-Grunge even further and garnered the attention and praise of critics around the world, despite many true grungers feeling that the band was a rip off or even a parody band of Nirvana.
The instrumental "Madman" shows off the influence heavy metal had on Grunge with fast heavy riffs, tempo changes, and the classic crunching sound of 80's thrash metal.
