I remember that famous (or infamous) interview with Armin Van Buuren from 2004 taken in Vancouver, in which he really clearly mocked DJ Sammy:
"I don't mind trance music becoming mainstream, but why the hell all these radio stations are playing all these cheesy music and call it trance? You know? It ruins my job, it really ruins my job, it makes my job a lot harder, if people tell me: "Hey man, I just heard the new DJ Sammy, and it's the new trance record". It's not trance! You know? That's not trance. Respect to DJ Sammy for what he is doing, it's not my thing, it's his, but it's not trance."
Oh well, how the tables have turned. The irony of fate perhaps, but Armin has become the one and the same he once swore to destroy! Haha, okay, it was a little bit overly dramatic, but the point is that I find this DJ Sammy record a hundred times more trance-y than the tracks that modern self-proclaimed trance producers push out nowadays... sometimes Armin included.
Yeah, it's a tad bit cheesy, it has a slight eurodance vibe to it, but it's so dynamic, powerful and enjoyable. I discovered this gem a couple of days ago and since then I'm pretty much listening to it non-stop.
