My headcanon is that the Chaos Emeralds were helping Sonic and Shadow breathe on the moon, even without the glowing super forms. Maybe the emeralds worked internally, allowing them to survive. But then, why can’t Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails—aliens in this universe—naturally breathe in space? It’s a funny inconsistency that sparks some interesting theories. Could it just be plot convenience?
