HOME ON WHEELS
VAN BUILD Ep 12 🚐

Hi, we’re Four B Adventures!

On this episode of our Van Build Series we spent the last couple weeks working on our van’s full shower as we prepare for the plumbing and painting!

TOILET 🚽
For our Toilet we purchased a seat off Amazon. We created our own make shift composting toilet using a garbage can. We will line it with dry bags and use a mixture of dirt, sand, coffee, etc to help decompose and mask the smells. To make sure we cut the perfect size hole and in the correct location, we used red nail polish to paint the top of the can then put the wood on top and pressed down. This gave us the outline of the garbage can. We then traced the toilet seat opening, and cut it out using a jigsaw.
For easy access to the inside of our benches which will be used for storage we purchased water tight boat door hatches.

WALLS
We closed off the walls and sealed them to prevent any water leakage. On the exterior of them we will be able to make tiny shelves which we can use to store small items or knick knacks.

FLOOR
To create our shower floor we used thin birch plywood which we cut to shape and sealed to our subfloor.

DRAIN
After installing tracing and fitting our shower floor to shape, we drilled a hole in the center of our shower. We purchased a drain that had no stoppers in it and was long enough to come out the bottom of our van.
Once the hole was made, we removed the shower floor and shaved the wood of our subfloor, creating a small decline. The purpose of this was to try and keep the water from collecting in any of the corners and encourage it to go towards the drain.
Once we finished shaving it, we placed our shower floor back down. While tightening the drain it pulled down the shower floor to give it that small decline towards the drain.
