“Not just Trudeau”: Singh says NDP ready to bring down Liberal party

After Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his intention to step down as the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said his party is still ready to bring down the government -- no matter who the Liberal successor is.

“Frankly, it’s not just Justin Trudeau,” Singh said. “So it doesn’t matter who the next Liberal leader is. They’ve let you down, they do not deserve another chance. They’re more interested in themselves than the struggles of Canadians.”

His statement came after Trudeau announced his plan to resign and the prorogation of parliament. Once the House of Commons returns on March 24th, there will be a Throne Speech followed by a vote in the House to adopt the government agenda.

This will be a confidence vote, one that Singh says his party will vote against.
