Before I can live in this 19th-century French château, or begin any major renovation, I have to deal with layers of grime, a serious fly infestation, and some questionable design choices.
In this episode, I start the interior clean-out by removing old, nasty carpet — and underneath, we uncover a surprise: the original tile floors in the turrets! It’s not full-on demolition (yet), but it’s the first real step toward restoring Château de la Chevronnais and making it livable.
I’m joined by amazing helpers — including two Americans I was only Facebook friends with (until now), and a British handyman I’d never met before in my life. From battling bugs to pulling carpet, we’re finally getting this place ready to live in while I plot & plan the long-term renovation.
Whether you're into French château renovations, historic home restoration, interior clean-outs, or just love a good before-and-after story, this episode is where the real work begins. And if you love, like I do, The Chateau Diaries, How to Renovate a Chateau, The Pethericks, Beau Chateau, Escape to Rural France then I hope we can be friends! Let's GoGo!
