This time, the situation was different. It wasn’t the resident who reached out to me—it was social services. The conditions in this home had become so severe that the young girl living here could no longer stay.

My grandmother and I knew we had to step in. We packed our things and got to work, determined to help this girl in any way we could.

I knew she wouldn’t be staying here much longer, so we cleaned the entire apartment to make her transition as smooth as possible. No one should have to live like this, and I hope this cleanup helps her take the next step toward a better future.
