Here in the Rio Grande valley (South Texas) you will find Barbacoa being served in just about any restaurant, if you want to buy it by the pound you can also find it in just about any grocery store, tortilla factory or Panaderia (bakery) because it is a delicacy that is loved and enjoyed by many. I was brought up enjoying barbacoa on Sunday mornings, my daddy would go to the town panaderia and buy a couple of pounds for the whole family, and my mom would prepare refried beans, tortillas, hot salsa and eggs to serve on the side with it, I have kept the tradition since. Barbacoa on Sundays is a must, but I like to prepare my own because it can be pricey if you buy it ready, so homemade makes more sense. This recipe is a sure delight, I hope you give it a try. ❤️

3 lbs Beef Tongue
2 3/4 lb Beef Cheek meat
Garlic powder (generously)
Onion powder (generously)
Salt to your liking
1 Head garlic (sliced in half)
1/3 med/large onion
1/2 C. Water
