The 1959 Corvette "Purple People Eater" race car rose from Barn Find to restored show car and vintage racer. Originally raced by Jim Jeffords, the car faded into history in the 1960s. In 1974, Chip Miller and Ken Heckert bought the old ca, as seen here, to autocross; but, not until the 1980s did these two men discover the old car had been the Purple People Eater, with an obvious connection to the hit song of the same era; but ,also fitting the car's appetite for eating up the competition on the SCCA race track.
