The undefeated Lexington Minutemen (6-0, 4-0) welcomed in Div. 1 Marysville (2-5, 0-3) on Saturday night as a packed crowd escaped the snow and filled the stands!Buckets from both sides quickly heated up the gym in the first quarter. Lexington shot 7 of 14 from the field, while the Monarchs shot 6 of 17 as the Minutemen took a 17-14 lead.
Lexington's Brayden Fogle shot 50% from the field in the first half, along with 11 PTS, 4 REB and 2 AST, helping the Minutemen earn a 36-26 lead. Jason Moore of Marysville led all scorers at the break with 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting.
The Monarchs opened with a strong third quarter, outscoring their opponent 15-12, it seemed the crowd would be in for an exciting finish. Marysville still trailed 48-41, but a 9 of 16 quarter from the field, with three triples, setup a must-see ending.
Holding off a second half surge from Marysville, Lexington displayed their depth and ability to close out games as they picked up win number six with a 66-57 victory. The Minuteman had three double-digit scorers on the night (Fogle 15, Hudson 14, Forup 14), while the Monarchs leading scorers were Jason Moore (22) and Nick Weaver (17).
Lexington improves to 6-0 (4-0 in OCC) and will play next at Mansfield Senior on Friday, December 23rd at 7:30 PM.
