Sigurd wended his way from Norway down to England, whence he moved on to Iberia, and fought “heathen” (in the saga this word refers to Muslims) pirates and soldiers that were occupying the peninsular and the Balearic Islands. From there they go through Sicily and onwards to Acre and Jerusalem, where King Baldwin I of Jerusalem bids Sigurd assist on a military campaign to Sidon to recover lands for Christendom. He then fares to Constantinople, where he is received well by Emperor Alexios, before giving the Emperor his remaining positions and returning home to Norway over land.
