Marsupial definition: Marsupials are a group of mammals that carry their young in a pouch. Kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, and opossums are well-known marsupials. These pouched animals belong to the order of Marsupialia.

Marsupials live only in Australia, Tasmania, the Americas, and New Guinea.
The largest marsupial in the world is the red kangaroo.
Marsupials first evolved in South America about 100 million years ago. At that time, South America, Australia, and Antarctica were connected in one big continent.

Most marsupials are night creatures. Their most important senses are their hearing and sense of smell.
