'Stratovarius' is a Finnish power metal band. It was formed in 1984 under the name Black Water, but the band's lineup has changed several times. Since 1995, all the founding members have left the band, and the longest-serving current member is vocalist Timo Kotipelto, who joined in 1994. Later, Jörg Michael and Jens Johansson joined the band, and this lineup is often referred to as the "classic lineup." This lineup remained stable for ten years, during which most of their signature works were released. The current lineup has remained unchanged since the addition of drummer Rolf Pilve in 2012, making it the longest-lasting lineup in the band's history.

'Episode' is the fifth studio album by power metal band Stratovarius, released in 1996. It was the first Stratovarius' album to feature keyboardist Jens Johansson and drummer Jörg Michael, both of whom were part of the band's most stable lineup for a decade, along with Timo Kotipelto.
