Small step with big benefits! ⬇️A layer of air space under siding is a small step before installation that has BIG benefits for longevity - especially for siding that can absorb moisture. This is any siding material based on wood or cement, such as James Hardie, LP Smartside, brick, stone veneer, etc.
An air gap between the water resistive barrier (in our case, Zip sheathing) and the back of the siding allows a space for water to escape, and air to dry.

ABOUT US: We are Alex and Elaina, a couple in our 20s who are currently living on the 3-acre farm in southern Pennsylvania where Alex grew up.
